Terms & Conditions
Last updated: July 18, 2026
1. Who we are
Semantica Learning ("Semantica", "we", "us") provides an online learning platform for GCSE, A-level and EPQ students. The Service includes: a revision hub (interactive lessons, flashcards, quizzes, predicted exam papers), a personalised AI tutor, study utilities (coin flip / wheel picker, ambient study sounds, streaks, XP and weekly goals), university prep tools (personalised course finder, personal statement builder, personalised timetable) and a 1:1 tutoring marketplace connecting students with vetted tutors. The Service is available as a website and installable PWA with offline support. By using it you enter into an agreement with Semantica Learning.
2. Acceptance
By creating an account or continuing to use the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You must be of legal age in your country, or have permission from a parent or guardian, to use Semantica. Users under 18 must have parental or guardian consent, in particular before booking tutoring sessions.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information (name, email, exam board, specification, year group) and keep it up to date so personalisation works correctly.
4. Acceptable use
You must not:
- Use the Service for unlawful purposes, fraud, harassment or spam.
- Infringe anyone's intellectual property rights.
- Interfere with the Service's security (malware, probing, scraping, etc.).
- Reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the Service.
- Use the AI features (tutor, lessons, flashcards, predicted papers, personal statement builder, course finder) to generate illegal, hateful or deceptive content, deepfakes, malware, or to attempt to jailbreak the model.
- Submit university applications or personal statements you know to be plagiarised or generated in a way that breaches admissions rules.
- Use the tutoring marketplace to arrange payments off-platform, share personal contact details before a booking is confirmed, or bypass safeguarding controls.
5. AI-generated content
Semantica uses AI to generate interactive lessons, flashcards, tutor responses, exam feedback, predicted papers, EPQ guidance, university course suggestions and personal statement drafts. You are responsible for your prompts, for how you use the outputs, for verifying their accuracy, and for having the right to any content you submit. AI outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete and are not a substitute for qualified professional advice (medical, legal, financial, university admissions, etc.). We may filter, restrict, or remove content and suspend accounts that repeatedly misuse the Service.
6. 1:1 tutoring marketplace
The tutoring marketplace lets students find and book independent tutors, and lets tutors offer their services. Tutors are independent contractors, not employees of Semantica. Semantica vets tutors before listing them and facilitates bookings, messaging and payments, but does not guarantee any specific academic outcome. Students agree to attend booked sessions on time and to raise concerns via the in-app chat and support channels. Tutors agree to deliver sessions professionally, keep their availability and pricing accurate, and comply with our safeguarding requirements (including a minimum hourly rate of £10). All communications and payments for booked sessions must go through the platform.
7. Intellectual property
Semantica and its content (software, design, branding, documentation, curated lessons, question banks, predicted papers) are owned by Semantica Learning. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service within the plan you have purchased. You retain ownership of content you submit (notes, personal statements, chat messages, tutor listings) and grant us a limited licence to host and process it solely to provide the Service.
8. Payments, subscriptions and tutor payouts
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Semantica offers a Free plan and a Premium subscription. By subscribing, you authorise recurring billing of the displayed price on the stated interval until you cancel. Tutoring sessions are paid per booking; tutors receive payouts via Stripe Connect net of platform fees. Cancellation, refund and billing terms are described in our refund policy.
9. Service availability and offline mode
We work to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free performance. The installable PWA caches recent content on your device so parts of the app remain usable offline; some features (AI generation, tutor booking, payments, chat) require an active connection. Features may change as we improve the product.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access for material breach of these Terms, non-payment, safeguarding or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations (including off-platform payment attempts on the tutoring marketplace).
11. Warranties and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or achievement of any specific grade or admissions outcome. Our aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid to Semantica in the 12 months before the claim. We exclude liability for indirect or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data or goodwill. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
